Hi
Im getting a little frustrated about the information provided regarding developing for Sharepoint 2013 using Visual Studio 2013.
I've gone through the development courses on MVA, and is now trying to install the required software.
I have installed Sharepoint Server 2013 SP1 on a virtual Windows Server 2008 R2 in Hyper-V.
I also have a virtual client running Windows 8.1 in Hyper-V, where Visual Studio Professional 2013 is installed.
Something is clearly missing, because if i start Visual Studio and create a new project with template for Sharepoint 2013 Empty project, I get an error telling me "The required version of SharePoint Foundation or Sharepoint Server 2013 is not installed on this system. Sharepoint must be installed on the local system to develop Sharepoint solutions".
If I try to install Sharepoint Server 2013 on my Windows 8 client, I get a message that it only can be installed on Windows Server 2008.
Somewhere I have read that you shouldn't install development applications on a server, but that seems to be the only possibilty left for me to try.
So, is there anyone in this forum with knowledge about this?
