Has Anyone Used JQuery Template Library in a SharePoint Hosted App?

I downloaded the latest jquery template library from here

Added it to scripts in my visual studio project Scripts directory

I added a reference to the script as well

But as soon as I run my app I see an error

SCRIPT 1002: Syntax Error jquery.tmpl.js, line 1 character 1

and when I try to bind data to template it says there is no such method as tmpl.

Can anyone help?
