workflow to check for double booking of a specific resource

I figured out how to prevent double booking for the entire calendar here using a workflow, but need to expand it a bit to say multiple appointments can be made at the same time, but only one for each type of event in the same time period (like a resource booking situation). I just need the workflow laid out to include that because I don't have the logic skills to do so.
